Once again Mexico is waiting for its Fashion Week to start.

3600m2 are waiting to be the stage of this fabulous week. From the 13th to the 17th  April (my birthday… for real, on the 17th I turn 19!  😀 ) we will be able to enjoy the marvelous work of: Benito Santos, Alejandra Quesada, Sandra Weil, Malafacha, Alexia Ulibarri y Alejandro Carlín, Rosa Tous  and Guess by Marciano among some others designers.

Here the schedule:

As you know I have had the pleasure of attending some previous editions before, you can learn more under FASHION WEEK category on the page or click here.

I´m really excited as some  new brands will be supporting Mexican fashion…Uber for example!

The rest I´ll like to keeps as a surprise, however this edition promises to be spectacular!

I have some high expectations…and I do not like to be disappointed, so I rarely set my expectations high.

Dress for success

I may not have a real job yet, however I believe on the power of some nice and polished outfit.

Having attended many parties and UN Models… I know the power of clothes.

We all judge people by either their shoes, hands, hair, wrinkles in the clothes or the length of the skirt. This only means that we are being judged too…

Here are some basic rules for your next college interview, UN model or just for the next meeting with a nice boy; have fun!

REMEMBER: Manners mean a lot as well

A button-down shirt.
-Brooks Brothers and some other brands have non-iron shirts 😉

—Polished black shoes.                                                                                                        TAKE NOTE: POLISHED                                                                                                      If you don´t want your shoes to lose shape, add some paper inside them.

—A blue, black or gray jacket.                                                                                                                                                                                                                               Make sure it fits you perfectly…be careful, as arm length is extremely important.

—Slacks that complement the jacket.                                                                                                                                    Be bold and combine some colors…age really does not matter

You can’t go wrong with a conservative tie. (Alas, this rules out pink flamingoes, hula dancers and anything to do with sports.)

—Don’t forget the socks. Here’s a hot tip for fashion-impaired Y-chromosome types everywhere: buy two dozen pairs of identical black or blue socks so you can pluck two at random from your drawer each morning and always have a match.

There is some slack in the grand scheme of things. Blue and white shirts have been around since time began, or so it seems, but there’s also room for the occasional yellow, pink or (if you’re an aspiring poet) black shirt. However, if you don’t know what you’re doing, stick with blue and white shirts, because otherwise you’re almost certain to step in it.

As said in Forbes magazine…

A skirt that hits just above the knee, slacks and perhaps pantsuits.  If they fit right, they are sexy. 😉

—Simple jewelry…Pearls are just classy

—Just a hint of makeup: mascara, eyeliner, blush, lipstick and foundation.

Skip the perfume, especially during a job interview or the first few days at a new job. If you use perfume thereafter, go easy on the saucy splash behind the ears, because you can bet that some grump or hyper-sensitive soul will complain bitterly about headache, nausea or a general outbreak of the fantods.

—Sweaters.                                                                                                                           Add some color to any look, they are fresh and comfortable, just perfect.                              P.S. I love them with any silk blouse

Rule of thumb: Always dress for the task at hand. If you’re a civil engineer headed for a construction site, jeans, a flannel shirt and work boots are fine, but that’s not how to dress when making a formal presentation to the grand pooh-bahs at the office. Believe it or not, otherwise intelligent people are remarkably dumb about this basic point.

Mark Twain was right: “Clothes make the man. Naked people have little or no influence in society.”

Emma Watson

Emma Watson is without doubt my favorite british actress.

Not only because she played Hermione Granger (best character ever) in the Harry Potter series, but because she is classy and true to herself. She is a goodwill ambassador to the UN and the face of the UN campaign HeForShe, she advocates for women’s and men´s rights. What a cool job right? Watch her speech here.

She has appeared in a million of covers;  including Vogue, Teen Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire, Elle and GQ among many others.

She was the face of Burberry London and Lancome after Harry Potter.

She graduated from COLLEGE!! I mean she has earned enough money to just travel around the world for the rest of her life doing nothing, but she keeps working and STUDYING!

She´s kind of my role model…as you have probably noticed….

Now, she´s also a fashion icon….so let´s enjoy some pics:

As it´s often said: “Money can´t buy happiness but it can by Nutella and that is basically the same thing.”

Also: “You are the Nutella to my spoon.”

So let´s take a look at this unique and marvelous bar: 121.23

Adolfo Domínguez

This well-known spanish designer presented his most recent collection on the runway of Mexico´s Fashion Week.

American Express invited me to the private event where this marvelous designer decided to surprise us all.

His clothing is inspired by urban necessities, making use of loose and natural fabrics. The way the clothes are cut are just perfect and the design can be appreciated from a fair distance.

Adolfo Dominguez speaks from itself, so just enjoy the show:

–> For an actual runway experience click here to check out the video I took from the runway.

FYI: I got so caught up by the clothes, that some pictures did not turn out to be as good as planned, so I took some pictures from the official website of Mexico’s Fashion Week. 😉

This collection is casual yet classy…I just loved it.

Penny for your thoughts?

David Salomón.

Once again I had the pleasure to attend Mexico’s Fashion Week. The week when we can finally forget our problems and enjoy the magic of some amazing designs, as if we were in a fairy tale.

In this story David Salomón would be anyones favorite Godmother, or Godfather…

You have probably heard his name, as I´ve written about him before (if not, what are you waiting? Check it!… there´s even a video 😉 )

His designs are both fresh and elegant with a glimpse of sexiness; but just the right amount.

No surprise he has dressed a few celebrities…

Here some photos!

This collection was inspired in the designers hometown, Cancun, the strand and the movement of the ocean. Quite a master piece I´d say.

I want to thanks his PR people for the invite, it was truly an amazing night…

P.S: I want to thank them even more for putting me upstairs in the VIP area 😉

Last First Day #BacktoSchool

Today was no ordinary Back to School….Today was my last first day at High School because this is my Senior year! Even writing this is like a dream. 13 years have passed since my first day at the German School and I can´t believe it.

I was in my first day…it was pre-first and there was this fancy ceremony with a Schultüte, or school cone full of candy and toys our parents thought we´d like , this way first day terror didn´t exist. We all had such thing…german tradition…we all were six and scared. I was holding my mom´s hand that first day and she was thinking about being in that school for 13 years, it was quite depressing at the time….you can´t even imagine waking up at 6 am for such a long time. It seemed like an eternity.

Time flies…and I´m both happy and sad. Funny thing: The reasons because I´m happy are also the reasons of my sadness. It´s all confusing and bittersweet. I was not nervous nor scared…I am comfortable, I´m used to everything at high school by now. The teachers, my classmates and friends …even though I´ll have some new teachers I somehow know everything is going to be fine. I´m in my comfort zone.

I wore new clothes and jewelry but for the first time I did not change my school bag, nor all my  pencils cases (yes I have more than one)  BUT I drove! Yes I finally drove to school, sure my dad was copilot but Hey! there´s something cool about the first time you arrive to school driving 🙂

Share about your first day!
