Once again Mexico is waiting for its Fashion Week to start.
3600m2 are waiting to be the stage of this fabulous week. From the 13th to the 17th April (my birthday… for real, on the 17th I turn 19! 😀 ) we will be able to enjoy the marvelous work of: Benito Santos, Alejandra Quesada, Sandra Weil, Malafacha, Alexia Ulibarri y Alejandro Carlín, Rosa Tous and Guess by Marciano among some others designers.
Here the schedule:
As you know I have had the pleasure of attending some previous editions before, you can learn more under FASHION WEEK category on the page or click here.
I´m really excited as some new brands will be supporting Mexican fashion…Uber for example!
The rest I´ll like to keeps as a surprise, however this edition promises to be spectacular!
I have some high expectations…and I do not like to be disappointed, so I rarely set my expectations high.
I was running as fas as I could because Mexico City was a chaos and I was already late. It had been raining the whole afternoon and the traffic was worst than usual.
But I made it!! I could enjoy the TREGUA Runway and I was pleasantly surprised. Tregua is a brand where Natalia Casal, Lucía Cornejo y Marina Rulli combine their ideas in order to create fantastic clothes.
They studied in Buenos Aires, Argentina. However they are trying to create a name in Mexico and what better way to do it than in Mexico´s Fashion Week.
As we can see black , white and pink are strong colors this season.
Oh and by the way, Marina Rulli is cousin of the famous actor Sebastian Rulli, who acts in several mexican series.
I got the pleasure of getting invited to a private event powered by American Express. This time David Salomón was presenting his collection.
David Salomón is a mexican designer who lives in Cancún, Quintana Roo. There he has find an inspirations for his “Hippie Chic” looks. He is actually the creator of this style in Mexico and is one of the most influent designers in Mexico. This has been said by the “Fashion Book Mexico” one of the most important publications in the country.
David Salomon´s goal is to create spectacular designs through simple lines and structures. Because of this stars such as Eva Longoria, Kate Walsh, Teri Hatcher, Bárbara Mori, Lupita Jones, Angélica Vale among many others are his usual clients. His designs are often on the “best dressed” lists in Mexico ant the US.
David Salomón and his beautiful creations
My camera was not at its best then, so I took some pics of my favorite outfits from fashion week.mx. You can check the entire collection there!!
I also took a video on the runway check it here–> David Salomon Runway You´ll be able to hear the music and the good vive of the show 🙂 This video is from my personal account on Instagram, feel free to follow.
Mexico is proud to have the designer David Delfín on this Fashion Week edition.
In a collaboration with Marie Claire, this famous and polemic designer showed the best looks of his career in Mexico´s Fshion Week in the still new concept of THE BOX.
The designer caused polemic because of his designs, which were inspired in the middle east women during the war in Afganistan. Depsite of this the designer won the award of “best collection by a young designer” in 2003.
This spanish designer is known for creating outfits inspired on his feelings and because of this the designs are minimialistic and in no way ordinary. His goal is to excite his audience, because he feels, just like Bourgeois, that everything that moves us in a way makes us feel really alive.
David Delfin is, above all, an artist. He said once:
Fashion is culture, not everything is art, but painting isn’t always art neither.
It´s quite clear for him that his whole work is about them. A suit, for example, is not sexy, classic, elegant or feminine by itself. Women are therefore the centre of his inspiration
